Homeless Prevention Personal Story

Mr and Mrs Goodman were referred to Signpost after falling into mortgage arrears, because their income dramatically decreased when Mr Goodman gave up work to care for Mrs Goodman following a stroke. Signpost quickly worked with Mr and Mrs Goodman to prepare for court by accessing a Social Services care package for Mrs Goodman, enabling Mr Goodman to demonstrate he would be returning to work. As a result, Mr and Mrs Goodman were able to stop the repossession of their home.

Before closing their case, Signpost went on to support the couple to improve their overall financial circumstances by helping them to apply for tax credits and disability benefits. The Goodmans and their 2 young children remain securely in their own home.
