Heavy Load are a punk band made up of Southdown service users and staff. They are also the stars of the award winning documentary feature film ‘Heavy Load’.
"Their version of Kylie’s ‘Can’t get you out of my head’ is frankly awesome!" (Mark Kermode, BBC Film 24).
Their 'gigs' have seen them travel as far as New York and this year they headlined the Dada Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.
This year's release features 37 different acts and the beautiful cover images come from local artists The Rockets. (A group of artists with learning disabilities based at the University of Brighton).
Countries featured are Argentina, Australia, Denmark, England, Scotland, Finland, USA, Switzerland and Germany + some Southdown service users.
It's a truly unique collection and features a wild range of musical styles - country, punk, electronica, pop, experimental/noise, vaudeville ...etc...
