<description><![CDATA[ In partnership with statutory agencies, seven new services will open throughout the coming year. We hope that people really enjoy their new flats and the support they will receive to live the lives they choose. The &#8216;A Place to Live&#8217; project aims to provide accommodation and support for individuals, who are currently living in NHS services, within&#160; more suitable supported living accommodation. The new services are located across West Sussex and will be transferred to Southdown in a phased way.&#160; The first services were transferred on March 1st. These houses are located in Worthing and Lancing; they accommodate seven people.... ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[ Southdown's supported housing service for former Rough Sleepers in Brighton has retained it's 6 grade 'A' scores following their recent review by Supporting People Commissioners. The service had previously secured 6 grade 'A' scores at their last review in 2008, but in re-awarding the 'A' grades considerable mention was made on the continuous improvements that have been made with the service. <description><![CDATA[ Bradbury Court - a unique development on National Trust land near the village of Washington in West Sussex - is a converted barn and outbuildings that have been tastefully designed to provide eight individual apartments for people with physical and learning disabilities. All the apartment occupants are also shared owners. The landlord function is provided by The Lorica Trust and the support contract is being taken over by Southdown from MiLife, a social enterprise. In order to win this prestigious award, an organisation must demonstrate that it has comprehensive health and safety policies in place, as well as a commitment from the shopfloor to the boardroom to a positive safety culture and the adoption of behaviours that have safe and healthy working practices at their heart. <description><![CDATA[ Southdown nominated the Sussex Partnership Trust's Vocational Leads for the coveted Challenging Stigma Award at the recent staff awards ceremony for the Trust. The award recognises those who have addressed stigma in the course of their work.&#160; The winners were Kate Bones, Director of Occupational Therapy, Debbie Rimmer (East Sussex lead), Lucy Locks (West Sussex lead), Annette Kidd (Brighton and Hove lead). Kate and her colleagues were responsible for a new project which helped set up three new services across Sussex (provided by Southdown) to help find paid employment and offer support for people with severe and enduring mental health... ]]></description>
