Saturday Club
Our Saturday Club in Lewes is for young adults with learning difficulties who are East Sussex residents living at home with families. The club, which offers a range of activities, is great fun for members and it also gives parents and carers time to themselves at weekends.
The club meets every two weeks and gives young people, from the age of 19, the opportunity to make friends and increase their independence. We manage the club in partnership with Lewes Mencap whose fundraising, along with funding from the Carers Grant, keeps the club up and running.

Personal Stories
Mary was keen to gain some computer skills but had no computer at home. She gained these skills by attending the fortnightly Saturday Club and now not only carries out online research for herself and the club, but also produces the club programme.
David had a fear of dogs so club staff arranged for him to walk a safe dog with their support. Gradually David is overcoming his long held fear.
Susan was anxious about using public transport, so club staff support her to travel on local buses to go somewhere she enjoys herself, e.g. swimming or shopping and her confidence is growing rapidly.
