Southdown has a range of staffed services for people with learning disabilities
who have additional complex needs. Staff are trained to provide care and
support for people who need help with personal care, support with mobility,
eating and drinking and all aspects of communication. We have professional
support to ensure that posture, moving and handling, transferring from a
wheelchair, and bathing, are all carefully assessed to provide the best up to date practice.
We also provide services for people who need tube feeding (gastrostomy) and enable people with the most complex needs to live an active life in the community.

Personal story
George is approaching 60 years old. He came to live in a small group home as he needed more support with his health and mobility and said he could not cope in his flat any more. He likes a quiet household and is now enjoying sharing with other residents.
The staff at the home are skilled in working with people with dementia, and have helped George to maintain his skills and keep up with friends when he feels like socialising. He has support to go out when he wants to and is happier and more relaxed as his anxiety has reduced now he feels safe and secure.
